Made 100% from scratch in photoshop, no photoreferences or anything. the blade once belonged to the same Doe as in "thoughts" and over time became imbued with her magics before she learned to control them, left behind in her own sensei's care it will soon be given to a new set of hands to be weilded as it was intended.
I know its not perfect but I am open to any comments, tips and critiques on making my weaponry look better.
You probably know more about katanas than I do, but it would seem that there is just baaaaaarely too much curve in this blade.
Every katana that I have personally seen has curved no more than the full width of the blade, whereas this one curves a full two bladewidths and perhaps a bit more.
I believe that the darker section in the center of the blade should be a more defined serration at a set distance from the leading edge, and keeping the same distance throughout most of the piece (say, 2/3rds of the blade length, getting nearer the leading edge as it tapers to it's point)
Otherwise, I can see no obvious flaws in this piece. I like it.
So what does the sigil mean?

Brian: What will they do to me?
Ben the Prisoner: Oh you'll probably get away with crucifixion.
Brian: CRUCIFIXION?
Ben the Prisoner: Yeah, first offense.
actually from what Ive gathered the older 'real' katana's did have more of a arch to them, I did originally have it arched way too much and toned it down. the sigil is the family symbol (mon or chop I believe) and stands for "woodrunner" the surname of the anthro doe in "thoughts" a protector of the woodlands she resides in.
Photoshop only with a mouse. no poser, no scanner. just used the lasso tool to lay out the outline of the blade, tweak it muchly and so on. it wasnt easy *L*
